Event App

We're really excited to announce that Make it British Live! will be introducing an event app for 2020.

Networking is one of the most important ways in which we can bring the UK fashion and textile supply chain back together. The Make it British Live! app uses the latest in AI (artificial intelligence) to recommend visitors and exhibitors for you to connect with at the show

The app also gives you access to the full event timetable, floorplan and exhibitor list.

Qualifying tickets will be able to message other attendees and pre-book meetings with exhibitors.

Event Sustainability

Live events are by their nature very wasteful.

Every year trade shows, festivals and other live events throw away tons of unwanted paper and plastic such as signage, catering equipment and printed flyers.

I'm ashamed to say that at the 2018 version of Make it British Live! we filled a very large skip with the amount of waste that was left over at the end of the event.

This never sat comfortably with us. So going forward, Make it British Live! is working towards being as sustainable an event as possible.

Here are some of the ways we are doing so with our 2020 show:

1. Local Sourcing and Manufacturing

Seems like an obvious one, but given that all exhibitors at the show are manufacturers and suppliers making in the UK, none of them are travelling miles to get to the event. By sourcing suppliers that are local, you will also be lowering the carbon footprint of your product supply chain.

2. No Lanyards

We will not be printing any single use badges or lanyards at the show, significantly reducing the need for plastic, paper and printing. In 2020 each visitor will be given a reusable metal pin badge to allow entry into the show - something that can be kept afterwards rather than thrown in the bin.

3. Recycling Facilities

We'll have much more easily available recycling options at the venue for both visitors and exhibitors.

4. Minimise Plastic

The catering at Make it British Live! will aim to reduce, or eliminate, all single use plastics. No plastic bottles, plates or cutlery. Event catering is shocking in the amount of plastic that it uses - we're saying *no thank you* to all of that.

5. Online Show Guide

As popular at it is, this his year we’ve taken the decision to not print out our show guide.
Instead we are excited to announce that we'll be producing an interactive app which will be available before the event to help you plan your visit. The app will use the latest in AI to matchmake you with the right connections at the show too - added bonus!

6. Public Transport

Unlike many other event venues, the Business Design Centre is extremely well served by public transport links. Just 5 minutes walk from Angel Islington underground and 20 minutes walk (or a 5 minute bus journey) from Kings Cross. So there'll be no need for that car journey or the associated congestion charge.

7. Talks centred on sustainability

All talks at MiB Live! this year will focus on how we can make the industry more sustainable.

FAQs

Why is there a fee for entry? Previously we charged no fee for entry to the trade show and a much higher fee (over £100) for entry to the talks. In order to make the talk programme more accessible to everyone we have introduced a small fee to not only cover entry to all the talks but also to cover the cost of the event app. If you do not wish to attend the talks and would rather not pay a fee there is a free ticket available to enter the show on Wednesday afternoon.

Do you do refunds? Yes. If you wish to cancel and receive a refund on your ticket price you can do so up to 7 days before the show. Regretfully we are unable to refund the Eventbrite fee.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else? Yes. Please email hello@makeitbritish.co.uk giving the name of the person that booked the ticket and the name and email address of the person you wish to transfer the ticket to.

Can I attend if I haven’t registered my company yet? Yes. We have lots of start-up businesses at our events. You’ll find loads of handy information that will help you launch your British-made brand

Can students attend? Yes. In fact we love to meet students that are interested in manufacturing in the UK.

Will you be doing other events like this in other locations? We also run the Make it British Forum which hosts a range of speakers and industry experts, at locations around the UK, which you may find useful. Keep an eye out for upcoming events at makeitbritish.co.uk
